Water Pie I saw this depression era recipe on websites and Facebook videos and had been curious for a while. I really like vinegar, buttermilk, and chess pies, and this seems like it will have a similar texture although nothing tangy in it. I requested this as a birthday dessert in 2023 but no dice.Continue reading “Water Pie… FINALLY!”

New pie – pretty yummy
Caramel Banana Pie I’m wondering how this caramel sauce would be incorporated into banana pudding. It goes really well with bananas, cool whip, and crunchy pie crust, so it should be pretty amazing in banana pudding.
What’s that called again?
Pretty basic thing here, but now with a fun new name! Nana’s Special Sausage Weiner Treats
Trying some charro beans now
Instant Pot Charro Beans This is my draft recipe. Adapted from recipe found here. Made some changes for ease and preference but overall it had some of what I wanted. Curious about adding chorizo, but I think it’s unnecessary. Could also use smoked sausage instead of hot dogs, but I’ve had a lot of greatContinue reading “Trying some charro beans now”
Trying a new recipe
Instant Pot Spanish Rice Writing this before it’s even done. Wanted to find a good recipe for Spanish rice for a while. I routinely add tomatoes, tomatoes & beans, or tomatoes and black eyed peas to my white rice recipe. Want to bump up the umami factor, and Spanish rice is the way to doContinue reading “Trying a new recipe”
Hummus, Baby! All the hummus
For a couple weeks, I’ve been thinking about making cucumber water and homemade hummus. With the girls being 15 & 13, making hummus seemed like a skill they could master. Heck, Abby has made jalapeño “green sauce” salsa by herself. Amy was kind enough to get ingredients at H‑E‑B, so this weekend was the hummusContinue reading “Hummus, Baby! All the hummus”
A new winner…
…winner chicken dinner! We made a Baked Feta Pasta (here) the other day that I thought was awesome, but it was too tangy for the ladies in the family. So for now it doesn’t go into the rotation. Amy got an easy chicken pot pie recipe from delish.com that we adapted based on preference andContinue reading “A new winner…”
Christmas Salad
We’ve eaten this salad for a couple years now at Aunt Goosie’s (Iva’s) house for Christmas. The link to the recipe on our site is here. The source recipe is here. I think our changes are to buy the dressing instead of making it and change up the proportions of a couple of the fruits.Continue reading “Christmas Salad”
New recipe, new inspiration
We don’t have anything on here for the air fryer… until now. We were plotting on dinner for tonight while menu planning this morning. I suggested meatballs, which we had not made in years. In searching for recipes, I ran across a few for air fryers. Here is the recipe we used, adapted from aContinue reading “New recipe, new inspiration”
Hooray for recipe submissions!
I recently learned that this website looks kinda awful on a desktop computer. I’ve made the whole thing on my phone so that was a shock. I imagine it looks bad on a laptop too. I’ll have to figure out how to fix that, but really my intent is for it to be used onContinue reading “Hooray for recipe submissions!”
