½ cup shortening
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup finely chopped pecans
Cream together shortening and sugar until well blended. Add beaten egg, milk, and vanilla, and beat well. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder, and add to creamed mixture. Add nuts and mix well. Shape into long rolls, and wrap in wax paper. Chill overnight in refrigerator. Slice thin and bake on greased cookie sheet at 350° for about 12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
