  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1/2 cup ice cold water

Sift flour and salt. Cut shortening into flour until resembles coarse cornmeal. Beat egg with whisk. Combine with vinegar and water. Add to flour mixture, tossing lightly with fork. (Roll it out?) Bake at 425 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes pastry for two single crust pies or one double crust pie.
